Who We Are

We are the 21C Student Curriculum Partners

  • Tai Peseta is the academic lead of the 21C Transforming Curriculum stream and leads the student-staff partnership strategy. Like many Pacific Islanders, she sang alto in a church choir but these days, sings along to the twang of alt-country and is very rusty.

  • Brooke Mees is in her final year of Master of Teaching and began as a SCP 3 years ago. During that time, Brooke has co-created units offered university-wide, contributed to published articles, presented at national conferences, and collaborated with external partners. She loves coffee, and relaxing with her cat, Luna.

  • Thilakshi Mallawa Arachchi is a PhD researcher and a social activist from Sri Lanka, living in Ngunnawal country and studying in the lands of the Dharug people. Her transdisciplinary research examines social media literacy and civic action, with a particular focus on the experiences of displaced women. As a Student Curriculum partner at Western Sydney University, she is committed to decolonising the curriculum and co-creating knowledges centred on equity and justice.

  • Sameer Hifazat is completing his Masters of Research. His role as a SCP kicked off nearly 2 years ago. In his spare time, Sameer loves to read, drink green tea, and watch a wide variety of sports.

  • Samuel Suresh is in year 4 of a Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Science degree and began his role as a SCP in early 2020. Aside from his studies, he loves photography, videography and enjoys playing cricket.

  • Sophia Clark is in the second year of a Bachelor of Business. Her journey as a SCP started at the beginning of 2021. Sophia spends a lot of her time painting or playing music as she finds it calming and enjoyable.

  • Shivani Suresh is a postgrad in her first year of a Master of Health Science and began her role as a SCP in January 2021. She loves learning about languages, people, and culture, and never says no to watching a good film.

  • Kobi Newell is a first year Bachelor of Business student majoring in Human Resource Management and Australian Indigenous Studies. He’s a proud Aboriginal man from the Worimi Mob located on the Mid-North Coast of New South Wales. Kobi started as a SCP in August 2021.

  • My Nguyen is a Science undergraduate majoring in Mathematics. She's into all kinds of problem-solving and enjoys using technology to solve any daily life challenge. She is a newly inducted SCP in midst of 2021. Apart from that she is a part-time coffee and boba fanatic.

  • Lilly-Rose Saliba is in her second year of a Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Social Science (Criminology). Even though she was born in the noughties, she is an 80s child at heart. She began her role as a SCP in mid 2021.

  • Jen Alford is a third year Bachelor of Psychology student and a PASS facilitator in the School of Social Science. Beginning her role as a SCP in mid-2022, she likes to balance her studies with keeping active and volunteering in the campus community.

  • Jackson Edwards is in his second year of a Bachelor of Social Sciences. His role in the 21C program started in mid-2022. He secretly hopes that his fellow student partners won’t notice that the three shirts that he wears to team meetings are the only ones in his ‘smart casual’ rotation!.

  • Raita Hedley is studying to be a teacher. She is one of our newer SCPs, and contributes to a new Minor focused on Indigenous Work and Practice.

  • Bakar Mohamad is a 3rd year social science student interested in student representation and international affairs. He has recently joined the SCP team in 2022. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, podcasting and producing videos.

  • Daisy Plzak is in the final throes of a Medicine degree. She enjoys creative pursuits, and is working on the development of a new Creative Industry Minor.

  • Tamima Rahman is in her third year of a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours). She loves dark chocolate, trying new crafts, and has a bad habit of buying more books than she can read.
